Day trips:

2 miles reef snorkelling or scuba diving The Two Mile Reef on the Bazaruto archipelago is one of the best places to go if you have a craving for snorkelling in Mozambique. It offers an opportunity to admire diverse marine animal life and breathtaking underwater views.

Observe schools of reef fish swimming in the fields of staghorn coral, as well as honeycomb moray eels hunting for prey in the crevices. If you’re lucky, you may also spot the occasional hawksbill turtle swimming casually past. Visit in the winter months for the chance to see humpback whales playing in the ocean. Professional SCUBA dive excursions can be arranged through Odyssea Dive & Kitesurf.

Visit African park Bazaruto

The Bazaruto Archipelago Na,onal Park is the first marine reserve to fall under African Parks’ management. In 2017,
the Na,onal Administra,on of Conserva,on Areas (ANAC) invited African Parks to manage its oldest national marine park, allowing us to protect this gem in the Indian Ocean. Declared a protected area in 1971, Bazaruto is made up of five islands, three of which are inhabited by 5,000 people. The archipelago boasts iconic megafauna, including whales, sharks, sailfish, manta rays, dolphins, marlin and nes,ng marine turtles, as well as the region’s last viable popula,on of dugong. A great way of seeing this park is via a dhow safari, which can be arranged through Sailaway Dhow Safaris.
